I’m rocking Frocktober! Every day in October, I will wear a different frock in aid of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
What’s Frocktober?
In Australia, one woman dies every ten hours from ovarian cancer. Unfortunately, there is currently no screening test for ovarian cancer and for many of these women the disease is already well advanced when they are first diagnosed. Frocktober aims to help improve the outlook for women with the disease by supporting the quest for a suitable early detection test, through fundraising for the OCRF. Through fun – and sometimes quirky – measures, Frocktober is all about:
• increasing the public’s awareness of ovarian cancer and what it is
• promoting women’s health & wellbeing
• celebrating the great diversity of shapes, sizes and colours women come in.
How does it work?
I do solemnly swear to wear a frock every day during October. No dress will be worn twice and no new dresses will be purchased in this venture. All dresses must be owned prior to commencing Frocktober, borrowed, or bought second hand.
How can I help?
Sponsor me, organise your own Frock Swap, or buy tickets for big Frock Parties held in Geelong and Perth on October 31st 2009.
My goal is to raise $500 during the month from sponsorship for donning a frock (and foregoing my jeans) for an entire month.
